Diane Breckenridge has worked to develope her business around the philosophy that “beautiful, livable design can also be affordable.” Her design firm is situated in a charming three-story building in Frontenac. The location also houses the Boutique at Breckenridge Interiors, as well as Carriage House Florals. The Boutique is a haven of decorating bliss, with unique findings displayed in a variety of vignettes, and hand-painted lamps and furniture in a range of prices. Whether you’re searching for a one-of-a-kind wedding gift or livening up the home for spring, the boutique offers distinctive pieces that may suit the occasion, such as mini ruched lampshades, sheered with pearl trim ($37), and a whimsical collection of bird prints, edged with a mirrored mat and bead inset ($112).
Carriage House Florals, under the direction of master florist Scott Hepper, is just a few steps away. You can choose from vases at the boutique (a Hepper favorite this spring is the green toile) or bring in something from your own collection and let the florist work his magic. Mr. Hepper has a full stock of bold seasonal flowers direct from the Dutch market. “Think tulips, hyacinth, freesias—more colors and designs than one can fathom,” he says. “It’s about making a statement, like hanging a Rembrandt on the wall.”

Arrangements can be designed to fit any budget or decor, “from the Ritz to your living room,” Mr. Hepper says. Mrs. Breckenridge also believes in giving back to the community through donations of art, florals, and other items. “It’s a huge part of who we are,” Mr. Hepper explains. “I believe that we need to utilize our talents to help other entities, and that is exactly what we do.”
