Spring Trend Alert: Tulle

Although tulle is often associated with brides and ballerinas, the material is currently relevant in the spring street-style scene. In a refreshing adaptation of its traditional use, a bevy of popular fashion bloggers have been donning the fabric for some time now, but we’re most excited to see this spring’s fresh take on the trend.

One of our favorite looks this season is by Atlantic-Pacific blogger, Blair Eadie, whose pleated number checks all the style boxes. The crave-worthy skirt, by Alexandra Grecco ($148 pre-order), boasts a tea-length silhouette for added sophistication and is available in a wash of one of spring’s most desirable hues—lavender.

Definitively not a part of the underground fashion scene, but undeniably chic, actress Lauren Conrad has partnered with Kohl’s to create an affordable Cinderella-inspired collection. The line has been a definite success, and the stand-out tulle skirts sold out quickly. Luckily, you can still snag a number of these well priced beauties on Ebay—often in the $50-$60 range.

If you love the idea of tulle, but just don’t feel ready for such a bold trend statement, a slightly sheer, long skirt is an excellent substitution. We like the fluidity of BB Dakota’s Vasco Skirt ($66, Paperdolls, Kirkwood location only, 110 E Jefferson, 314-965-3655), which would be great with a light jacket through spring and could easily transition into summer with a slim tank and leather sandals.
