Schlafly Tap Room hosts Art InSide this weekend

Building on the success of the longstanding Art Outside event in Maplewood, the Downtown West location is planning an indoor event featuring a range of local art, craft beer, and more.

The folks at Schlafly had so much fun last year at Art InSide, they’re doing it again. The three-day party takes over Downtown West’s Schlafly Tap Room with art, music, tattooing, Schlafly suds and vittles, and party vibes.

“We’ve been doing Art Outside for years and said, ‘Well, heck, when it’s cold outside, why don’t we do Art InSide?’” says John Elafros, Schlafly’s private events manager. “This is the second year we’re doing this. Last year was a wild success—it was awesome! We filled our entire second floor with artists.”

More than 40 visual artists from St. Louis will bring their work to the tap room’s two ballrooms. You’ll see textiles, jewelry, prints, ceramics, paintings, and more from artists such as Kelly Cook, Sarah Skiold-Hanlin, Fabiola Pasco, Tom Blood, and more. Matt Salzman, Steve Whittenberger, and Megan Annette Naik will be inking skin. At the North Bar, check out performances by Van Full of Nuns, School of Rock, and the Steve Ewing Band & Duo.

Support St. Louis Blues Warrior Hockey with the specially designed Pale Ale can—20 percent of sales from the 16-ounce can support the disabled veterans’ hockey league, and tickets for a St. Louis Blues game are being raffled off, too. The event benefits Artists First, the nonprofit studio for artists of all abilities, as well as St. Louis Artworks, an arts-education and job-training organization for St. Louis youth.

The tap room’s full menu will be available for purchase. Schlafly seasonal and year-round faves such as Coffee Stout, White Lager, and Irish Extra Stout round out the offerings.

“It’s a celebration of St. Louis’s vibrant art scene, live music, and community,” says Elafros. “It’s all about the community, and we’re part of the community.”

Art InSide is free to attend and runs from 5–9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Sunday.
