This past weekend, Music at the Intersection took over Grand Center for two days of genre-spanning performances, live art, food and shopping vendors, and other events. The annual fest burst onto the scene in 2021 and has since become one of St. Louis’ most anticipated events of the year.
Produced by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, the festival brings together regional and international talents to celebrate St. Louis’ unique place in music history. “We can produce something that honors our river-city connection and honors our relationship to the Caribbean and West Africa,” KAF executive director Chris Hansen told SLM ahead of this year’s fest. “If you do that through the lens of STL, you put the most amazing contemporary music on the stages alongside the legacy artists. This is why MATI is so quickly becoming nationally and internationally recognized.”

After this year’s event, we can only imagine the fest’s reputation will continue to grow. Overcast skies, sticky heat, and a light drizzle didn’t deter fans from taking in performances from Trombone Shorty, Chaka Khan, Black Pumas, Chingy, and many more.
