Women’s Closet Exchange (11575 Gravois, 314-842-8405) will be opening a second location this spring at 2325-2333 South Brentwood Boulevard.
“We are incredibly excited about this new location,” says Diana Ford, marketing and events manager of Women’s Closet Exchange, Clique, and Purple Cow and owner of The Shopping Co. “It’s a standalone building with big beautiful windows, and once we saw it we fell in love with it. We just got the keys yesterday.”
In the final episode of the Style network show, Resale Royalty, Women’s Closet Exchange owner Sue McCarthy and her daughters Ford and Laura Maurice had announced to their staff that they were purchasing a space in the Central West End for a concept called “The Vault” that would carry their most top-tier designer items. Ford said that the Central West End location fell through, and after considering a space in Clayton, they found this location in Brentwood and knew it was the right space.
The 6,000-square-foot space will house new locations for both Women’s Closet Exchange and Purple Cow and will include ample space for both private events and store events. In fact, Ford says that the cash wrap will double as a cocktail bar.
Instead of “The Vault” concept, the new location will carry the same designer resale brands that the original location in South County is famous for.
“We have so much inventory now. We desperately need more room, and we’ve been searching for a new space for two years,” explains Ford. “We got three boxes from Beverly Hills just yesterday. We are constantly receiving inventory.”
The new location will also have a completely different look and feel, Ford says, and is being designed by Euro Trash designer Annie Brahler, whose closet was featured in an episode of Resale Royalty.
In addition to the attributes of the building, Ford says that having other resale shops in the area was a selling point for them. “The more resale shops the better,” she says. “We all support each other, and it really raises the bar in our industry.”
Ford says that they are planning on a May 15 grand opening event called, “Bag to the Bone” that will feature a runway show of all designer handbags.
