Ask Jan: How to Wear White Jeans with a Curvy Figure

New SLM Style Editor Jan Leach shares tips on wearing a summer staple

Q: I love white jeans but I’m a curvy woman and am scared to try them! What would you suggest I try?

A: Don’t be scared to wear white denim! There are many different fits, fabrics, and price points out there for all body types. For a curvy body, my suggestion would be to try a thick white denim with 1% elastine (spandex) and look for a medium to high rise with a boot cut or flared leg opening. Boot cut and flared legs will balance out your curves while allowing you to show off your beautiful shape. Also, consider purchasing a pair with a little room in the thigh; there’s nothing worse than white jeans that are too tight! Here are a few tried and trusted white jeans for you to style your own: Citizens of Humanity “Angie” flared denim, $185 at Nordstrom West County (www.nordstrom.com); MICHAEL Michael Kors “Sausalito” boot cut jeans, $80 at Macy’s (www.macys.com); Joe’s Jeans Wide Leg in Jenny wash (white) for $169 online (www.joesjeans.com).
