As St. Louis events begin and attention turns to the main attraction, most people don’t think about what’s happening behind the scenes. Long before guests arrive, a trained medical team is already onsite, prepared, and ready to step in if needed.
At events across the metro area, that role is often filled by AccuCare Event Medical. For more than 30 years, the organization has been part of the city’s largest gatherings, including stadium games and concert tours, as well as community festivals and school athletics. AccuCare’s work happens in the background, as it’s designed to blend into the environment while staying ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

How AccuCare Became a Trusted Name
AccuCare began in 1994, when registered nurse Jacqueline “Jacque” Phillips founded the company with a dual focus on event medical services and home health care. Built on her commitment to clinical precision and compassionate care, the business grew into a trusted name across the St. Louis region. In 2025, her daughter, registered nurse Dana Moulton, stepped into ownership, carrying forward the family legacy while leading the next chapter of growth.
“Leading both divisions keeps me close to what matters most: our people and purpose,” Moulton says. “When you stay connected to what teams are navigating in the field and what clients are experiencing, the vision stays grounded in real life.”

What Preparation Looks Like Before the Doors Open
Preparation begins well before doors open. Each event is assessed individually, with coverage modified to factors such as crowd size, environment, and access to additional emergency resources. Some events call for Basic Life Support (BLS) teams, while others require Advanced Life Support (ALS), depending on the level of risk and complexity.
Teams arrive early to check equipment, set up first aid areas, and coordinate with venue staff. Once the event begins, operations move into standby. Much of the time, the team waits, watches, and stays ready.
“The first thing we do is make sure everything is stocked and operational,” says Jared Knobbe, supply and logistics manager. “Once guests arrive, we respond as needed, treating injuries onsite or coordinating transport with local EMS when someone needs a higher level of care. It keeps us constantly ready, even when things feel quiet.”

The Moments Most Guests Never See

Many situations that AccuCare’s team handles are more common than some might expect. Heat exhaustion, dehydration, minor injuries, and headaches are frequent, especially during outdoor events or long game days. Quick treatment allows guests to return to the experience with minimal disruption.
“There’s a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into keeping things running smoothly,” says marketing specialist Elizabeth Sproat. “Our teams are positioned so we can respond quickly without interrupting the flow of the event. When we’re doing it right, most people don’t notice us until they need us.”
A careful balance between visibility and discretion keeps the focus on the event while still providing reassurance. It also helps maintain the atmosphere event organizers work to create.

The Expertise Behind Every Response
AccuCare’s clinical standards set it apart in the event medical space. The organization provides ALS care when needed, with team members practicing at the highest level of their licensure under physician oversight and regularly updated protocols. Ongoing education and scenario-based training keep teams prepared for both routine care and high-pressure emergencies.
Experience plays a key role in how those moments are handled. “Over time, decision making becomes more instinctive,” Knobbe says. “You follow the same clinical steps every time, which helps you stay focused no matter what’s in front of you.”

A Trusted Partner Across St. Louis
Consistency has helped build long-standing relationships across the region for AccuCare. Venues and organizations continue to rely on the company for its ability to deliver care with professionalism and calm, even in unpredictable environments.
Moulton sees that trust as an essential part of how AccuCare shows up in St. Louis. “When the city comes together, we’re often there in the background,” she says. “People may not realize it, but that presence matters. It allows everyone else to focus on the moment, knowing someone is looking out for them.”
Additional Support Through Home Care Services
Alongside event medical services, AccuCare Home Health Care continues supporting patients with in-home nursing and personal care across the region. Both divisions work together to support people where they are, at home or in the middle of a packed stadium. No two events look the same, but the standard stays consistent: prepared teams, responsive care, and support when it’s needed.
“Our vision is about people and delivering care that clients can rely on, wherever life takes them,” says Moulton.
