Named the No.1 gourmet walking tour in the U.S. by Wine Enthusiast, the locally-owned company is now in its fifth year.

The restaurant and whiskey bar, owned by Nick Funke, Maz Nooran, and chef Todd Bale, opened on December 23.

“We thought we’d paint a goalie on the wall and leave it at that,” says homeowner Lisa Acree. But the family’s passion for hockey spurred the couple to think outside the box.

The burger joint is located at 329 DeBaliviere, along the the Loop Trolley line.

“Aquaponics could present a whole paradigm shift,” says Tom Bortz, a molecular biologist who began experimenting with the soil-less growing of plants years ago.

The “fine-casual” burger chain currently has five locations in the Chicago area.
