Hidden Valley Ski Resort to Undergo $2 Million Expansion

Love to hit the slopes in the winter, but don’t have the time to travel to a more mountainous location? For many, Hidden Valley Ski Resort (17409 Hidden Valley, 636-938-5373) in Wildwood is the answer to their local skiing and snowboarding dreams, and today the resort announced a $2 million expansion, beginning construction this spring, that will add 30 percent more skiable terrain; a new four-person ski lift, which will be the resort’s largest at a little less than 2,000 feet long; and $500,000 towards revamping the food and beverage operation.

This will be the largest expanision in the 30-year history of the resort, which has seen a more than 20 percent decrease in visitors this year. In articles on stltoday.com and the St. Louis Business Journal, Tim Boyd, CEO of St. Louis-based Peak Resorts, which owns Hidden Valley, noted that part of the reason for the expansion is to meet the demand from an increased number of visitors who are coming from outside of the St. Louis area from states such as Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
