Today her Brentwood home’s garden is a magnet for pollinators and people alike.

Weeks before the novel coronavirus upended our city, Design STL gathered a group of academics, advocates, and business leaders for dinner and conversation at Vicia.

When Lee Cagle and her husband traded in apartment living for a house, she saw it as an opportunity to relive a part of her childhood.

“A typical homeowner with a typically sized rain garden doesn’t need a big backhoe to come in,” says Ned Siegel, a master gardener. “It’s pretty simple basics: gloves, a shovel, a tape measure, and a plan.”

“There’s a real opportunity to do this throughout central county, even out into suburban areas,” says SPACE Architecture’s John Pitman.
