After much anticipation, the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum is nearing completion of a $21 million expansion. The museum is slated to reopen to the public on November 2.
The world-class institution will be four times the size of the previous facility. Renowned designer Gallagher & Associates, in partnership with museum staff, has been hard at work finalizing designs for the state-of-the-art exhibits, interactive features, and more.

Upon its grand reopening, the museum will feature a new permanent Holocaust exhibition, which will guide visitors through the challenging history. The museum will also boast a new performance auditorium, classrooms, a special exhibit gallery, archives, a reading room, and more.

The Impact Lab, a one-of-a-kind experience inspired by the previous museum’s “Change Begins with Me” exhibit, will provide visitors with the opportunity to consider contemporary events and issues through the lens of the Holocaust, at a time when genocide is still present, hate and bigotry are on the rise, and the world is more divided than ever.
Information on memberships, group tours, and tickets will be announced in the coming weeks. Volunteer opportunities are also currently available.

Founded more than 25 years ago, the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum grew out of St. Louis area survivors’ desire to ensure that the history and lessons of the Holocaust are not forgotten. More than two decades later, survivors remain the heart of the museum. Their donations—precious family photos, official documents, and heirlooms—personalize history and enrich the experience of visitors. As the Holocaust recedes further into history, relatives of survivors continue that tradition by sharing the experiences of grandparents, parent, and cousins.
Today, the museum remains committed to preserving the legacy of the Holocaust, educating about its causes, and illustrating how it relates to our lives today. The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum strives to teach visitors how to reject hatred, promote understanding, and inspire change to shape a better world.
