They won all three games of their season-opening road swing, scored a whole bunch of goals, and cultivated some early-season momentum. Now, the St. Louis Blues are back to open the local portion of their 2021-22 schedule when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday at Enterprise Center. It’s been a while since the downtown arena has operated at full capacity for regular season NHL action—593 days, in fact. So it’s probably worth reacquainting ourselves with everything to expect from a trip to 14th and Clark.
Here are five things to know about attending games at Enterprise Center this season:
1. You’ll need to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination (or a recent negative test) to get in. The team announced last month that all fans 12 and older will be required to validate their vaccine status prior to entry. Otherwise, unvaccinated fans who will be relying on negative test results will need to have either a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test administered by a healthcare professional within 72 hours of game day. To get a head start on the check-in process, fans can visit ecfancheckin.com to upload necessary documents before traveling to the arena.
2. Warm up your pipes ahead of time. Longtime anthem singer Charles Glenn put down the arena microphone for the last time during the Blues’ 2019 Stanley Cup run. Beginning this year, the organization hopes to start a new pregame tradition, asking all fans in attendance to join in a collective singing of the national anthem.
3. Grab concessions from a deep roster of local favorites. Sugarfire (Portal 11), Hi-Pointe Drive-In (Portal 16) and Lion’s Choice (Portal 4) are among the many familiar flavors once again available in the building this season. There are also some new options for the 2021-22 campaign, including Mission Taco Joint (Portal 46), Chicken Out (Portal 17), and, for those with a sweet tooth, The Baked Bear (Portal 5). No matter what you have a hankering for, odds are good that you’ll be able to find it at the game.
4. The team will wear four different sweaters during the home schedule. Blues players will continue to don their usual dark blue uniforms for the bulk of their dates at Enterprise Center this winter. But the team plans to shift gears on a few occasions, mixing in the light blue Heritage jersey, the mid-90's era Vintage jersey (the one with the red accents), and the recently-unveiled Winter Classic jersey for select contests.
5. You won’t need a ticket to get in on the fun at the home opener. The team is inviting all fans to come hang out at the Blues Bud Light 14th Street Party beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. ESPN 101 broadcasters Chris Kerber and Joey Vitale will preview the season in between sets by the Steve Ewing Band. Food trucks, including UKraft, Wayno, and Doggie Mac’s, will also be on hand.
