If you want to watch the Blues take shots on goal this season, you’re going to need a shot in the arm — or a swab in the nose.
The team on Friday announced that fans will be required to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test in order to attend games at Enterprise Center this season. The policy, which goes into effect on Oct. 15, will also apply to guests at other events at the arena and Stifel Theatre. According to a release, the Blues are the 16th NHL team to require fans to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result in order to attend games.
“Our plan to use vaccine validation or negative test results as a requirement for entry is in line with policies being implemented by our division rivals in Nashville and Chicago, as well as dozens of other sports teams, stadiums, arenas, outdoor amphitheaters and festivals, and anywhere people come together for a good time,” St. Louis Blues president and CEO of business operations Chris Zimmerman said in a statement. “We strongly encourage everyone to receive the vaccine. That is the quickest and most effective way to put this pandemic behind us. In the meantime, we will do our part to protect our fans and guests by requiring vaccination or a negative test result as they arrive at Enterprise Center and Stifel Theatre. It's the right thing to do for ourselves, and for others.”
The arena policy is intended for all fans ages 12 and older. Unvaccinated fans who will be relying on negative test results will need to have either a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test administered by a healthcare professional within 72 hours prior to the event. The test results will need to clearly show the ticket holder’s name and the date of the test. Children 11 years old and younger won’t need to show proof, but they will need to wear a mask.
The Blues will host the Los Angeles Kings for their regular season home opener on Oct. 23.
