Smash-and-Grab Burglars Break Into Sweetie Pie’s Original Location

The burglary comes days after owner and matriarch “Miss Robbie” Montgomery announced the closing of the popular Grove location.

Last week, we told you that Sweetie Pie’s, the soul food founded by former Ikette “Miss Robbie” Montgomery later made famous by its own OWN reality show, is closing its popular location in the Grove.

Now there’s more bad news from the famous St. Louis soul food chain: St. Louis County Police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary at the original Sweetie Pie’s restaurant in Dellwood.

A police spokesman tells SLM that officers from Dellwood responded to a call for a burglary in process at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday night. Burglars shattered the glass front door, and money is missing from the restaurant.

Police said there are no known suspects and no video surveillance available. St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Property is investigating.

The Dellwood location of Sweetie Pie’s, at 9841 W. Florissant, reopened two months ago after it was closed for three years, and media images show the “Grand Opening” is still hanging above the now-destroyed front door:

It’s been a rough year for the Sweetie Pie’s family. In March, Montgomery’s grandson Andre Montgomery was shot and killed in St. Louis at age 21. Viewers of the television show Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s watched Andre’s ceremony when he graduated from McCluer North High School in 2013.

Sweetie Pie’s supporters took to social media to condemn anyone who would target the beloved local business:
