Sweetology to reopen in Town & Country Crossing

The cake- and cookie-decorating shop has closed in Ladue for new digs farther west.

Sweetology is on the move.

The cake-, cupcake-, and cookie-decorating shop, popular for parties, classes, and kid’s camps, is relocating to 1232 Town & Country Crossing, at the intersection of Highway 141 and Clayton Road. Co-owner Kara Newmark says after analyzing three years of sales, they found about 55 percent of Sweetology customers come from the Chesterfield area and almost 90 percent from outside Ladue, where the original store was located.

“Our last day [in Ladue] was on Sunday,” Newmark says.

The new Sweetology is currently under construction, and Newmark says they’re aiming for a March 15 opening. She adds they’ll continue with the services and playful atmosphere found at the Ladue shop; but for the new location, they have “some fun surprises” planned.

Sweetology opened in 2014 on Clayton Road in Ladue. It serves as a culinary canvas and provides cookies, cakes, and cupcakes that can be decorated on site (like a Painted Zebra for sweets). Creations can be eaten immediately in the cafe—which offers coffee drinks and ready-made treats—or boxed up for home.

Newmark says since the shop opened, the reception has been positive, especially with summer camps and corporate parties and team-building events.

“It’s just a really fun alternative for people to get together to do something creative and delicious,” she says, adding: “Don’t think that just because we’ve got this temporary pause that we’re not still moving forward.”
