More than 30 metro St. Louis restaurants have permanently closed during the COVID-19 pandemic

Fortunately, restaurant openings continue to outpace the closings.

Back in March, when the COVID-19 pandemic was just an epidemic, SLM began compiling a list of restaurants that closed temporarily and a list of those that closed permanently. (An updated list of the latter and their final date of service is noted below).

But it’s not all doom and gloom: by our count, 55 independent restaurants have opened in metro St. Louis since mid-March, and last month, more restaurants opened (19) than in the same period last year (12), which no one would have guessed.
