Editor’s Note: It was an interesting month… While the number of closures was double that of August 2019 (expected, considering the circumstances), the number of openings increased (19 vs.12), which we’d wager nobody saw coming. The most notable closures were Cusanelli’s, which operated in the same building since 1954, as well as Paul Mineo’s Trattoria, mainstay at Westport for the last 13 years. The long-awaited Hangar finally took off in Rock Hill, Kiin gave way to Aubergine Cafe downtown, Balaban’s returned to the CWE (for pick-up and delivery only), and South American-themed Asador del Sur opened in the former Reeds American Table space in Maplewood.
