Perennial on the Trail (801 S. Holmes), the latest venture from Perennial Artisan Ales and Common Ritual Whiskey, has officially opened in Kirkwood. Located in the former Pedego Electric Bikes space along Grant’s Trail, the bar is now open with full hours, though a few finishing touches remain.

The location offers a more intimate, retail-focused experience than Perennial’s original South City brewery. It’s also the first space designed to showcase both the brewery’s beers and the distillery’s spirits equally. A grand opening event is in the works, with details to come.
“We wanted to establish something new that can feature both brands,” says co-founder Phil Wymore.
Here’s what to know before you go.
The Menu
The beer menu at Perennial on the Trail is compact yet balanced, offering crisp lagers and classic Belgian styles alongside a bold double IPA and a decadent imperial stout. Trail-goers have plenty of range, whether they’re sipping light or going big:
- Daydreaming (4.7% ABV): A Belgian-style witbier brewed with wheat varietals, offering soft citrus and spice notes in a light, can-conditioned pour.
- Saison de Lis (5% ABV): A straw-colored Belgian-style saison brewed with chamomile, finishing dry and refreshing with fruity, floral complexity.
- Pils (5% ABV): A dry-hopped, unfiltered German-style pilsner brewed with Tettnang and Saphir hops for a crisp, grassy finish.
- Brew for the Crew (5.5% ABV): A Munich-style lager with a bready malt backbone and clean finish, brewed in collaboration with Farmhaus chef Kevin Willmann.
- Code September (8% ABV): A bold West Coast double IPA double dry-hopped with Simcoe, Centennial, and Columbus for layered pine and citrus.
- Take 10 (11.5% ABV): A pastry stout brewed with pretzels, peanuts, and chocolate sauce for a dessert-like finish.

Common Ritual pours and whiskey flights are available, along with six cocktails, including a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned made with Common Ritual whiskeys. For non-whiskey drinkers, there’s a house spritz featuring San Luigi Aperitivo.
“The rest of the bar program, including 10 wines by the glass and a small selection of spirits and amari, was curated by Matt Hickerson, formerly of Veritas Imports and Cork & Rind,” says co-founder Emily Wymore.
Nonalcoholic options are available, and the team plans to stock trail essentials such as bike tubes, patches, and energy bars for cyclists passing through.
The food program is still under development, with more announcements expected soon.
The Atmosphere
The location is just north of I-44 and has direct access to Grant’s Trail. “It’s a smaller space,” Wymore says. “That forces us to focus on tastings, curated drink offerings, food, and ambiance.”

Inside, Perennial on the Trail feels bright and grounded. Tall windows pull in daylight and frame a view of the trail. Pale wood tables and concrete floors set a laid-back tone, while the compact bar makes the space easy to take in. The full cocktail menu runs on screens above the bar.
In the future, the space is slated to offer whiskey tastings, guided beer flights, and educational programming.
“We’re excited to be part of the Oakland/Kirkwood community,” says Phil Wymore. “We’re looking forward to introducing more people to both brands.”
