“We’re closing our doors this Saturday…to make room for a new adventure!” reads this Facebook post, in part explaining the demise of @Nesbys, the 15-month-old BBQ restaurant located inside the Econo Lodge at 3730 S. Lindbergh (former home of Gordo’s Margaritas and Señorita Pique before that).
Nesby’s featured live music several nights a week, karaoke, and a friendly bar, often tended by owner Nesby Moore’s affable wife and co-owner, Pam Moore. Besides Nez’ Signature Hickory Smoked Wings, the menu featured a wide range of items and price points, from a $9.50 4-rib dinner to a 2-pound smoked lobster tail dinner for $85.

The Moores were unavailable for comment this morning, but the Facebook post blamed the closure on several factors: “The Econo Lodge stigma, and what will happen to the hotel in the future, as well as its patrons, was impacting our business. We are looking for another place where we can be successful for years to come!”
Before embarking on a brick and mortar location, Nesby Moore (pictured at right) was a fixture at Fair St. Louis and other food festivals, which helped launch a catering business. Although the restaurant is closing, Nesby’s will continue to cater local events.
The Moores have set up a GoFundMe page to jump start “the new adventure” and encourage their fans to keep in touch via Facebook and Twitter.
