My Place (7401 Watson) quietly debuted in late October in Shrewsbury, with a grand opening scheduled for next month. Seating up to 325 guests, the restaurant, bar, and café is designed to accommodate sports viewing while offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, highlighted by a self-serve beer wall with more than 50 taps.
“We have built the ideal social gathering place,” says owner Sandeep (Sunny) Bhalla. Here’s what to know before you go.
The Menu
A beer wall with 50-plus taps allows customers to pay by the ounce. “After giving us their ID for age verification and their credit card, our customers are given a beer card,” says Bhalla. “They have 52 taps to choose from, and our tech allows them to pour the beer of their choice within seconds. You pay per ounce, and the average cost is between 45 and 60 cents per ounce.”
Beyond the brews, a prominent drink option is Walters Bay tea. “We have up to 10 flavors, with peach and raspberry being especially popular,” says Bhalla, who retails the tea in tin cans. (“We have a merchandise section,” adds Bhalla. “We sell wine tumblers, coffee mugs, water bottles, caps, etcetera.”)

The food menu spans cuisines from around the world, including American, Mediterranean, and Indian. Starters include wings and samosas, while entrées include pizzas, shawarma, and two types of tikka. “I especially recommend the hummus and falafel,” says Bhalla.
On weekends, My Place also offers brunch. “We have flown in a chef from France to serve a variety of dishes,” says Bhalla. Featured items include Lemon Blueberry Pancakes, Cinnamon Roll French Toast, and egg dishes.
Another plus is the daily happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m., where appetizers and drinks are discounted 25 percent.
The Atmosphere
My Place is expansive, with room for 325 guests spread across three distinct spaces. Anchoring it all is a U-shaped bar topped in quartz, backed by a dramatic wall of 52 self-pour beer taps. Beyond the bar lies the 220-seat main dining room, where a perimeter wall doubles as a massive projection screen capable of running up to four programs simultaneously. Just inside the front entrance, down three stairs to the left, a 60-seat café offers a calmer, more intimate alternative.
Televisions are used with restraint here, a deliberate choice that sets My Place apart from typical sports-centric venues. The layout reflects the business’s own description of itself—not a sports bar, but a café, bar, and restaurant rolled into one.
The Backstory

A native of India, Bhalla moved to the U.S. in 1988. He spent several decades at tech companies in San Francisco before moving to the Midwest and working in telecommunications. He later moved to Columbia, Missouri, where he established a healthcare business alongside his wife, Dr. Sarmistha Bhalla.
“In February 2018, I conceived the idea to create a smart bar using Swiss machine tech and offer a truly unique experience to customers in St. Louis,” he says. Gradually, the idea evolved into a full-fledged restaurant and sports bar with food items from around the world.
Bhalla says the inspiration behind the eatery and its name is that the “world is my place,” he says. “We brought cuisines, resources, and technology from around the world. In the future, we will bring entertainment from around the world, too.”
