Chefs across the country covet them. Serious home cooks do, too. It’s what you buy for the culinarian who has everything, because odds are a blade from NHB KnifeWorks hasn’t been granted a slot in their trusty knife block.

Nate Bonner (above) crafts knives in three basic styles (chef, utility, paring) and finishes (stainless, carbon, and Damascus steel). Each hand-crafted blade and handle is a striking piece of utilitarian art.

NHB KnifeWorks announced today that it will open a brick-and-mortar store in Maplewood this summer.
Bonner’s specialty knives have garnered praise in both Epicurious and Vogue. And in St. Louis At Home. Tom Colicchio, of Top Chef fame, named NHB’s Thai Basil knife-line part of his “Curated Collection” on the DARA Artisans website.
Proud owners praise the raw materials, balance, and beauty, qualities best appreciated by seeing and touching and holding the knives in person (not just viewing them online).
So be it.
NHB KnifeWorks is slated to open at 7328 Manchester (the former Roots Antiques) in early July, just in time for Maplewood’s annual Let Them Eat Art festival on July 8.
