Imo’s Holding Company, the parent company of Imo’s Pizza, announced the appointment of Mark Miner as the company’s new chief executive officer, replacing Carl Imo, who served as the company president since 2014. The business has been family-owned and operated since its inception in 1964.
According to a press release, Miner brings extensive experience in “brand development, food manufacturing, supply-chain organization, and retail-products marketing.” An industry veteran, Miner was previously senior vice president of operations and senior vice president of sales for Arcobasso Foods/Golding Farms Foods, Inc, the co-packer for several locally branded salad dressings, among other products.
“I’m excited to join one of St. Louis’ most-iconic brands and help continue to grow the company Ed and Margie Imo started with a single restaurant nearly 60 years ago,” Miner said in the release. “The Imo’s Pizza brand is synonymous with St. Louis-style pizza, yet its appeal has spread far beyond its hometown. Imo’s has expanded through its franchised restaurants, as well as products sold at retail, into three states.
“Our team is ready to take the brand to new heights,” Miner continued in the release, possibly hinting that even more Imo’s products will become available at retail.
In addition, Matt Pudlowski, the former vice president of finance for Golding Farms Foods, Inc., has been named the new chief administrative officer of Imo’s Holding Company.
At press time, Miner, Pudlowki, and Imo were not available for additional comment.
Imo’s Pizza, founded in 1964 by Marge and Ed Imo, began as a small storefront on Thurman Avenue in the Shaw neighborhood. The company has grown to 99 restaurants in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas. Carl Imo, one of their four sons, took the reins as company president in 2014. (In this Q&A with SLM from 2015, he recounted the company’s beginnings and elaborated on the plans for a massive expansion of its offices and warehouse to 800 N. 17th St. in Downtown West.)
“As our company continues its growth and evolution, Mark and Matt will help ensure the success of the Imo’s Pizza brand,” Imo’s co-founder Margie Imo said. “We recognize the company would not be what it is today without Carl’s vision and dedication, and we are grateful to his enormous contribution.”
