We all know that cup of Joe is good for you, but your next cup could be good for someone else. Newcomer OH! Coffee was created to raise funds for St. Louis-based Crisis Aid International, a nonprofit committed to “helping the helpless” with local and global relief efforts.
OH! Coffee currently comes in one offering: a certified organic Ethiopian Yirgacheffe with a bold floral profile and flavors of black tea, peach, and fig. The hand-picked medium roast is available online in bags of whole bean or ground. One hundred percent of the net profits from sales benefit Crisis Aid International.
The mission-based coffee brand grew out of the nonprofit's work in Ethiopia. Staff and volunteers spend a significant amount of time delivering food to the malnourished in Ethiopia, and Yirgacheffe is considered to be the birthplace of coffee. To further help those in need, the organization purchases beans from Ethiopian residents, which are then brought to the U.S. to be roasted and packaged for sale. The organization has partnered with Kickapoo Roasters, a Wisconsin-based company known for its fairness to farmers, to roast the signature blend.
“It’s extremely gratifying to see what started as an idea to help fund our programs come to fruition through a great cup of coffee,” says Pat Bradley, founder of Crisis Aid International. “OH! Coffee is a critical component of how we support coffee farmers and the local economy in Ethiopia.”
Crisis Aid International helps people around the world by delivering food to the hungry, providing safe rescue for victims of sex trafficking, supplying critical medical services during disasters, and more. Additionally, the organization provides training programs to encourage self-reliance and independent living.
