St. Louis doesn’t have many Italian restaurants serving Sunday brunch, but that’s about to change.

Beginning March 16, Edera (48 Maryland Plaza) in the Central West End will offer a plated brunch from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday.

“Edera’s dinner menu is more modern,” executive chef Andrew says. “For brunch, I wanted to lean into classic Italian dishes.”

Guests can dine in the main dining room or, when the weather allows, on the rear courtyard patio or at sidewalk tables along Maryland Avenue. Simon notes that the brick alleyway leading to the restaurant’s hidden courtyard evokes the charm of Italy. “It feels like the Old Country back there,” he says.

The menu features a mix of classic brunch favorites and Italian-inspired dishes. Waffles, savory frittatas, and omelets will be available, alongside signature creations such as ‘Ndjua Toast, Pancetta Hash, and Red Burrata, which Simon describes as “a banger dish,” including two eggs cooked in ‘nduja tomato sauce with salciccia, burrata, and gremolata. One of Simon’s personal favorites is a riff on eggs Benedict called Polenta and Eggs, made with fried polenta cakes, prosciutto, marinated tomatoes, and pesto hollandaise.

The menu also includes Italian street sandwiches, served on house-made Roman focaccia crafted from Edera’s signature pizza dough. Options range from capocollo and chicken to Caprese and a three-cheese formaggio with tomato jam. The sandwiches are folded over but still showcase the ingredients, resembling “an open calzone,” according to Simon.

Several salads are also available, including the Ortaggio (Italian for “vegetable”), which combines chopped kale, candied pistachios, apples, pecorino, sweet potato, and a spiced vinaigrette.

The bar menu includes brunch staples, such as a Bloody Mary bar, along with two varieties of bellinis (peach and guava), a blood orange French 75, and a carajillo (espresso with coffee liqueur).

Following the launch of brunch, Edera plans to host the next installment of its popular themed dinner series, 48 MP, on March 20.

Named after the restaurant’s Maryland Plaza address, the event will be dubbed “Full Circle.” Simon will reunite with longtime sous chef Katie Newsham to serve dishes they created together in the past. Unlike the usual communal shotgun-style-table format, the dinner will feature four round tables, each seating six guests. Staying true to its name, the entire meal—including the six-course menu and beverage pairings—will incorporate a circular theme. The dinner is $150 per person plus tax, with a portion of sales benefiting Friends of Kids with Cancer. The menu is available on the event’s reservation platform, and Simon says he’s happy to accommodate any health restrictions or preferences.

With Sunday brunch, the ongoing 48 MP series, and a refreshed menu on the horizon, Simon says, “it’s more than providing great food, excellent service, and a memorable experience—it’s about supporting the community and creating a space where people can come together.”
