Balkan Treat Box closes temporarily until further notice (UPDATED)

The restaurant specializes in wood fire oven roasted cevapi, pide, doner, and fresh baked somun.

Balkan Treat Box (8103 Big Bend) one of the most renowned restaurants in the city, has closed until further notice, according to an announcement  made on social media this morning. The post read, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closed until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Thank you for your continued support.”

A spokesperson for Balkan tells SLM that the closure is temporary, and that sister restaurant, Telva at the Ridge (60 N. Gore, Ste A) remains open.

Balkan Treat Box began as a food truck (equipped with a wood-burning oven) and opened a brick-and-mortar location in early 2019. Current business hours are Tue-Thu, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fri-Sat, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

SLM has reached out to owners Loryn and Edo Nalic for additional details.

UPDATE: On October 6, the following was posted on social media for both Balkan Treat Box and Telva at the Ridge: “Our Balkan family has suffered a loss, and we’re taking some time to grieve. We’ll be back soon, and we appreciate your patience and support during this difficult time.”
