For those of you who thought the whole Food Truck fad had tipped over… sorry, the trend now seems hotter than ever.
The arrival of spring means more motor scooters, more open convertible car tops…and more announcements of food trucks hitting the streets–four in the last two days, including one called Lulu’s Local Eatery–sporting a garden on its roof.

Sauce magazine recently announced the schedule (and food truck line-up) for the second annual series of Food Truck Fridays, a popular event held in Tower Grove Park on the second Friday of the month from May through October.
To further test the viability of food truck-centric events, Eliott Harris, owner of the Asian-themed truck Chop Shop STL, invited 5 food trucks (Chop Shop STL, Seoul Taco, Guerrilla Street Food, Cha Cha Chow, and The Sweet Divine) to participate in the first Food Truck Meet Up, an indoor event held last Saturday at the Koken Art Factory. Despite sharing the date with St. Patrick’s Day (a somewhat popular local holiday), the inaugural event was so successful that Harris decided to do one a month, on the third Saturday of the month, a week and a day after Food Truck Friday. The next FTMU event will therefore be May 19.
Each Food Truck Meet Up will be an all-day event, running roughly noon to 9 p.m. and will be “climate controlled” — i.e., held indoors, come rain or hotter-than-hell shine. According to Harris, the Koken warehouse space can accommodate a maximum of nine food trucks, all of which must use “shore power” and exterior venting to keep the space comfortable.
