Affordable fashion boutique MOD On Trend has come a long way since its beginnings in Edwardsville, Illinois, in 2013. The shop’s sixth location is set to open in Town and Country (1186 Town and Country) on March 7.
The new store will feature a more inviting atmosphere, a wider variety of products, and more personalized service, according to Lauren Musgrove, who co-owns the boutique with her mother Marta Gaska and sister Tania Rakel.

Although MOD On Trend primarily carries its own house brand, Musgrove says they have listened to customer feedback and will be bringing in more name brands, such as Steve Madden and Superga. The boutique will also begin receiving more frequent shipments, which means that new items will appear on the floor throughout the week.
“As a small company, we always have to make changes and refresh ourselves. We are going to bring in different brand names according to season. So we might carry Superga right now, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to carry Superga in the fall,” Musgrove says.
“But when I say we’re going to start bringing in brand-name goods, I don’t mean that you are going to find things for over our normal price points,” she clarifies. “We are still sticking to our core, which is affordable, fun fashions.”
In addition, the new store will be the first location that is “very open to bringing in children and pets.” Plans include a dedicated kids’ corner stocked with Capri Sun, books, and puzzles, as well as a water bowl and treats for shoppers’ canine companions.
Over time, these changes will be rolled out at MOD On Trend’s other locations as well.
“We are a family-owned company, and we wanted to make it comfortable for everyone,” Musgrove says.
The three owners will also be introducing location-specific features and events, based on studying the demographics around each store. For example, customers at the Town and Country location will be able to use Instagram to schedule pickups or appointments, a feature that Musgrove says is geared specifically for the area’s business women and mothers on the go.
“If you haven’t been to MOD in a while, come in,” she says, “because things are changing.”
