As someone who practically lives in yogawear, I can gladly report that one of spring’s top trends is urban streetwear with an athletic flair. Perhaps no designer has embraced the trend more successfully than Alexander Wang, though other designers—Paco Rabanne, Pucci, Rag & Bone, Victoria Beckham—also recently introduced looks with a nod to the “urban athlete.”
Locally, Kit and Ace, which recently opened two locations here, is bringing sophisticated separates to devotees of its sister brand, Lululemon. And local designer Emily Koplar of Wai Ming has a gorgeous take on the slouchy pant with a matching top; though not “athleisure” (the very word sets my hair on end), it’s functional and of-the-moment fashion.
Spring’s here: It’s time to embrace the leisure lifestyle.
