This four-year-old Glendale home makes a stunning first impression. Built in 2019 by Kirkwood/Glendale-based Herring Development and Chicago architect Michael Abraham, the architecture combines elements of classic Southern Colonial style with clean-lined functional spaces. Decorated by the current homeowner, the interiors feature a maximalist look with layers of fabrics and textures in every room. French doors open to an entry hall with a hand-painted wall covering from Gracie titled “Pastoral French.” The clients worked with designers from the 300-year-old family business to make selections and decisions regarding wall placement, down to the position of clouds and buildings. Additional high-end design details appear throughout the home, including carpeting by STARK, vintage-inspired light fixtures by Urban Electric Co., and fabrics from Brunschwig & Fils, Scalamandre, Cowtan & Tout, and more. Roecker cabinetry, quartzite waterfall counters, and Wolf/SubZero appliances make up the kitchen. The vaulted primary suite, three en-suite bedrooms, and laundry room are on the second floor. The one-bedroom carriage house was designed with the same attention to detail.
