A new hotel allows guests to book their room based on their emotions

Now taking reservations for November, the Angad Arts Hotel at 3550 Samuel Shepard prides itself on being the first of its kind—an establishment where guests can select their rooms by the emotions of color. 

Developed by Lawrence Group‘s Steve Smith and Caparo Group‘s Lord Swarj Paul, the $65 million project began with the renovation of the historic Missouri Theater located in the Grand Center Arts District. The location only seemed fitting as every inch of the hotel celebrates creative expression.

“Room colors, and the feelings they inspire, won’t just stay on the walls. Whimsical details, like rubber ducks in bathtubs, will carry the same tones through the room, as will sleek furniture and plush accessories,” the team shared in an interview.

Amongst the 146 guest rooms, 38 will be suites and 25 will be extended stay rooms. Guests can not only book rooms of green for rejuvenation, yellow for happiness, red for passion and blue for tranquility, but they can also choose the room size—S, M, L, XL, XXL.

The hotel will also act as its own art gallery, featuring local artists’ work in the lobby and throughout other areas of the hotel. Using an app, guests can learn more about the art and even reach out to the artists directly to buy the work right off the wall.

Celebrity chef David Burke will debut his first St. Louis restaurant with Grand Tavern on the ground floor, while the rooftop’s Angad Rainbow Terrace will act as an additional bar and lounge.
