With Mother’s Day just a week away, dozens of St. Louis boutiques, florists, artists, and designers are making it easy to find that perfect gift, and ensure that it seamlessly—and safely—gets to mom. While online shopping is the name of the game right now, local business owners are also finding creative ways to make Mother’s Day shopping more dynamic and fun, from virtual markets, to window shopping, to drive-thru pickup events.
To kick things off, tomorrow, May 3, The Women’s Creative will be hosting Procure: At Home, an online market featuring 30 local women-owned brands, who will be introducing their selection of products for 8 to 10 minutes at a time. Viewers can shop directly from the event page from noon to 4 p.m, and brands range from clothing (Polished Prints), to sustainable home goods (Dharma + Dwell), to salon and beauty (Black Beauty House), and more.

If you need an excuse to get out of the house, Cheree Berry Paper is offering free Mother’s Day cards outside their shop window at 9220 Clayton this weekend (weather permitting) while supplies last. For other card ideas: Paper goods designer and illustrator Aims Moon Paperie began shipping Mother’s Day cards today (May 2), and is offering 20 percent off her shop this weekend with the code “Mom” at checkout. And in a particularly timely fashion, LAUNCH Clothing and Accessories is offering a floral face mask and card set, with cards from Brooklyn-based illustrator Daniel Joseph Durkin.
Local illustrator Emily Stahl Design Co has a number of hand-drawn Mother’s Day cards still available on her Etsy shop, or shoppers can head to RF Home Co‘s online store to nab one, along with succulent arrangements by Lokey Designs (curbside pickup only). The Kirkwood-based home décor store has a variety of Mother’s Day packages as well, most featuring items that can be customized according to mom’s tastes. In Mother’s Day Package #8, for example, shoppers can share a little about their mom’s style at checkout, and the RF Home Co will handpick a scarf, a pair of earrings, and a mug to suit. For the grandmas in their lives, shoppers may want to take a look at package #9, which features a “Grandchildren complete the circle of love” tea towel, along with their own soy blend wax candle and mug.
Artist Jessica Hitchcock just launched a practical way to enjoy her colorful paintings via a gold-rimmed, gold-handled mug featuring her work, “I Flew My Colors Like a Sail” just in time for Mother’s Day. This is available along with her two new notebooks with covers featuring her “Tulip Fields Forever” and “Primavera” paintings. But for those who can’t decide on just one item, South Grand boutique Urban Matter has “U Matter” gift boxes with curbside pickup and shipping available. To create a box, shoppers can either shop their Instagram or window shop at their brick and mortar location on South Grand—each item in the window is numbered, so customers only need to email [email protected] with the number or description of the item to complete their purchase.

Over in Shaw, Union Studio has a variety of custom gift sets available, but shoppers need to place an order by Tuesday to ensure it arrives on Sunday, or pick up their goodies by Friday at noon. Be Bright by Bonboni has also created Mother’s Day Gift Boxes, featuring hand-poured soy candles in a fragrance of the shopper’s choice, plus sunburst earrings by Nuance Jewelry, and a 6 oz bag of Mouth Party Caramels. (Ten percent of the sale of each candle goes to non-profit organizations that provide job training for women.) Head over to Bonboni’s website for a curated list of other Mother’s Day gift ideas, with items for self-care, the host, the cocktail lover, and more.

Check with your favorite local florist to see if they’re still taking deliveries or curbside pickups in time for Mother’s Day, but at the time of writing, a number of shops were offering exclusive products and deals. Roses and Mint is taking pre-orders for flowers, with the option to either pick up, or have them delivered straight to your mom’s door on Saturday, May 9, between 10 a.m and 2 p.m. Customers can choose between four different arrangements: a small plant in a metallic bag, a flower arrangement in a hobnail jar, a small wrapped bouquet, or an arrangement in their exclusive R&M pottery by Christine and Patrick O’Brien.
Floral designer Bunches Squared is collaborating with photographer BTP by Alison for a no-contact delivery bouquet and a family portrait session to be scheduled at a later date. Meanwhile, Arch Apparel teamed up with Rudy’s Flower Truck and Flare Grove Creations to create STL flower boxes with arrangements with two color schemes available while supplies last (pick up only). For a flower alternative, White Stable Farms is doing Kokedamas, a Japanese style of housing plants sans container, with house plants, orchids, and fiddle leaf figs available for delivery or pickup in Maplewood.
Lettering and design studio Mod Co is teaming up with small business STL Sitter for a Mother’s Day giveaway on Instagram that includes a St. Louis hat, magnet, and button from Mod Co along with a $50 babysitting credit.

And moms might want to keep an eye out this weekend for a local giveaway announcement from four St. Louis brands who have teamed up to create a self-care package designed to be enjoyed after the stay at home order is lifted. Winners will receive a one-hour closet edit with personal stylist Luisa Nuñez, a one-hour headshot session with Jennifer Korman Photography, professional makeup and hairstyling by Your Beauty Ball, a dozen macarons from Tipsy Goat STL, and a $30 gift card to use on handmade jewelry by Cattleya HandMade Jewelry. Check back with the brands on Instagram for more information coming soon.
