A guide to holiday house tours in St. Louis

From historic architecture to the season’s decorating trends, this year’s holiday house tours offer something for everyone.
Holiday Historic House Tour

December 5

Join the Campbell House Museum, Chatillon-DeMenil House, and Field House Museum for a delightful holiday tour that will transport you to the past. Guests will enjoy light holiday refreshments at each location, while exploring these historic sites in a one-night-only peek into yesteryear. 3-8 p.m. Advance reservations are $30 per person. Limited reservations available at the door of each house on the day of the event for $40 per person. All reservations are non-refundable.

Home for the Holidays Tour (Elsah, Illinois)

December 7

Enjoy a walk through the picturesque historic Village of Elsah while touring select homes decorated for the holidays. Farley Music Hall, the Elsah Museum, the historic two-room schoolhouse, Elsah’s bed and breakfast inns, churches, and village shops will also be open. 1-5 p.m., Advanced online tickets are $20, Day of event on-site tickets are $25. Children under 12 enter for free.

Magic Chef Mansion Christmas Tour

December 7

This Christmas season, step back in time to the early 1900s with a tour of the Magic Chef Mansion, located in the Compton Hill Reservoir Square neighborhood. Take in the first-floor rooms, from the main hall and dining room, to the library and kitchen, which features a selection of original appliances from the Quick Meal Stove Company, founded by the home’s original owner Charles Stockstrom. 4-7 p.m. $25 for adults, $10 for kids 6-12, and free for children under 6. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the front door on the day of the tour.

Soulard Parlour Tour and Holiday Celebration

December 7 

The 49th Soulard Parlor Tour will feature six lovely and historic homes, as well as an Art Deco business structure from the 1930’s. Enjoy a rewarding assortment of home decor and holiday decorating ideas that showcase Soulard’s exquisite historical fabric. The 3.5-hour guided bus tours will begin and end at Soulard Station (1911 S 12th Street), with tours departing every 30 minutes from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. $50 per person. On tour day, any remaining tickets will be on sale for $60 at the Tour Center.

Lindbergh Holiday House Tour & Boutique

December 8

Tour five beautiful and unique homes in the Lindbergh School District and shop from local crafters and vendors at the boutique at Lindbergh High School. Tour: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Boutique: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $25/person. Children under 10 enter for free.

Candlelight House Tour (Belleville, Illinois)

December 8 

Starting at Belleville Philharmonic Hall, tour eight historic homes including two in the historic Signal Hill Neighborhood on Belleville’s west end and two in the historic neighborhood surrounding St. Clair Country Club. Proceeds benefit the mission of the St. Clair County Historical Society. 1-6 p.m. $25 per person.

Webster Groves Holiday House Tour

December 8

Celebrate and explore the Webster Groves area by touring seven local homes, a bed and breakfast, and the historic Hawken House. Proceeds benefit the Hixson Middle School PTO. 1-5 p.m. Check the website for ticket price information.

The tour starts at the Guibourd-ValleHouse at 1 N. 4th and includes other private homes throughout the historic district. 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., $20 admission or $15 for current Foundation members.

Lafayette Square Holiday Parlor Tour & Holiday Market

December 15

Enjoy 11 homes ready for the holiday season in this self-guided walking tour. Each home features a distinctive character and history, reflecting the charm and diversity of its residents. Ticket holders can also enjoy carriage rides in the park, and trolley stops around the neighborhood. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tickets are $40 per person
