Taubman’s New Home Stores in Chesterfield

Strike up the band. The first of the two competing outlet malls has opened in Chesterfield. Two the magazine’s intrepid reporters were on-hand for the bon mots of local officials and the formal cutting of the ribbon on the first of Taubman’s Prestige Outlet Malls. Once done, we headed off to see what there was in terms of home furnishings.

We walked to the end of the mall and checked out the new Restoration Hardware outlet. The store is huge, which is fitting because the furniture is equally oversized. Mighty, mighty big furniture that will probably not fit in the average 2,000-square-foot house.

The sofas—for both inside and out—could seat a small party. But there are plenty of choices for every room and the linen collection is undeniably divine. Shop here for outfitting your bedroom, as well as finding lamps, chandeliers, lampshades, and mirrors. The deals average 30 percent (but frankly, considering the starting point, are still pretty high). However, the towering Eifel Tower, did catch our eye—and our fancy. But, at $1,221, we walked on.

Our favorite spot to shop for your abode is in The Collective Outlets and specifically, Niche Home. Its portion of the showroom is packed with pillows, frames, occasional tables, chairs, as well as beautiful beds, dining-room tables, and sofas. The savings were considerably better than seen down the row at Restoration Hardware. For example, a high-backed Dakota sofa was marked down from $8,125 to $3,999; a Tudor chair from $1,512 to $999. And you can stock up on Say It with Book covers from twigs & MOSS, one of our all-time favorite shops in town. And in the same Collective space, check out K. Hall for its fabulous scents and sensible accessories.

But there was more: The Bedroom Store, Spas and More, and Christmas in St. Louis. However, when we return, we will shop the Collective first. And with luck, some of the retailers in The Collective MX downtown (i.e. Indie Mats) will be hawking their wares in Chesterfield as well.
