JULY 3+4
The nation’s birthday bash is bringing bright lights, good eats, and big names to the Gateway Arch. Celebrate 250 is commemorating 250 years of the American experiment with world-class headlining music, a 1,500-drone aerial spectacle, and an extravagant fireworks display over the Arch. JULY 3+4
Riverfest, St. Charles’ free two-day celebration in Frontier Park, features carnival attractions, plenty of sips and bites, family activities, and live music, all bookended by a parade and fireworks on Saturday. South Pacific runs at The Muny from July 6 to 12.

JULY 6–12
The Muny’s outdoor setting should be passable dupe for the subtropical weather in Broadway favorite South Pacific, on stage at the historic theater this month. The heart-wrenching romance that sees the flirtations and trials of both an American World War II nurse and a charismatic older plantation owner and a Marine and an island local. The Rodgers and Hammerstein production won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1950 and includes timeless tunes such as “Some Enchanted Evening” and “There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame.” The Muny, muny.org. 

JULY 7
Due to popular demand, the previously scheduled Left Bank Books author talk with The Veiled Prophet author Devin Thomas O’Shea has been moved to The Ethical Society of St. Louis, where O’Shea will be joined in conversation by writer Kella Thornton. A signing line will follow the event. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP. Ethical Society of St. Louis, left-bank.com.

JULY 10
As a tribute to Bastille Day, Maplewood restaurants and retailers will offer great bites, arts demonstrations, and exclusive deals at Let Them Eat Art. Expect plenty of art, live music, kids’ activities, and more as you wander Downtown Maplewood enjoying extended business hours and special event-only promotions. Maplewood, maplewoodmo.gov.

JULY 17-19
Spend the weekend concert-hopping across Grand Center at Music at the Intersection. The annual music festival and conference returns with a new summer date and indoor stages. Grand Center Arts District, matistl.org

JULY 17–26 
The St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase returns to the Hi-Pointe Theatre this summer with a lineup of full-length narrative films, documentaries, and shorts. Organized by Cinema St. Louis, the 10-day festival gives regional talent a platform by spotlighting projects led by St. Louis filmmakers or those with local ties. This year’s theme is “A Shared Light.” Hi-Pointe Theatre, cinemastlouis.org.

JULY 18
Instructors from the City Sewing Room will be on hand at The Griot Museum for Sewin’ with Soul, a bento-bag workshop inspired by the museum’s The Legend of Kente exhibit. No sewing or craft experience is necessary for the workshop, and materials and African-printed fabrics will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required. Slayyyter

JULY 26-29
Dance the night away with the “Wor$t Girl in the World” when Slayyyter takes the stage. The Kirkwood native built her career as a songwriter, singer, and producer by independently releasing songs on SoundCloud. This tour brings hyperpop tunes inspired by Slayyyter’s adolescence in the Midwest. The Pageant, thepageant.com

JULY 27
High-flying musical artist and Grammy nominee Benson Boone is headed to St. Louis for a “Mystical Magical” evening. The “Beautiful Things” singer will make a stop at Enterprise Centeron his Wanted Man tour. Enterprise Center, enterprisecenter.com.
