‘Meet Me in St. Louis,’ ‘Something Rotten!,’ ‘Ain’t Too Proud,’ and more announced for 2026 Muny season

The Tony-winning theater’s 108th season includes modern hits, Broadway classics, and shows for the whole family.

Selections for the 108th season at The Muny were announced today during a YouTube livestream hosted by Muny president and CEO Kwofe Coleman and artistic director and executive producer Mike Isaacson. After a brief delay for technical difficulties (live theater, there’s nothing like it!) and a highlight reel from the 2025 season, the pair announced the seven shows heading to the storied outdoor stage this season.

“Season 108 celebrates everything our audiences love about The Muny — the joy, the spectacle and the sense of home it brings to St. Louis,” said Coleman. “We can’t wait to welcome our community back to Forest Park for another unforgettable summer.”

Hairspray: June 15-21

For the first time in 11 years, The Muny will bring Baltimore to life in St. Louis with Hairspray. Called a “modern classic” by Isaacson, the show follows teenager Tracy Turnblad as she turns a local dance show—and the community beyond—on its head with her big hair and bigger heart.

Shrek: The Musical: June 25–July 2

Each year, The Muny schedules a show meant to bring families to the theater en masse. This season, that’s Shrek: The Musical, returning to the Muny stage for the first time in 13 years. Featuring Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and all your favorite Far Far Away faces, the family-friendly musical is an exciting twist on classic fairy tales. “It’s great for the kids, it’s great for the adults,” Isaacson says. “It’s really joyous.”

South Pacific: July 6-12

Audiences can spend some enchanted evenings at The Muny this summer as South Pacific returns to the Forest Park theater. This classic Rodgers and Hammerstein production features such beloved songs as “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “Bali Ha’i,” and, of course, “Some Enchanted Evening.”

Disney’s Newsies: July 16-22

Seize the day with Disney’s Newsies when it returns to Forest Park after more than a decade. The cult-favorite film spent years on the Disney sidelines before being revived as a hit Broadway musical featuring more songs, fleshed-out characters, and spectacular dance sequences.

Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations: July 27–August 2

Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations became a smash when it debuted on Broadway in 2019, and now it’s making its way to St. Louis as the first Muny premiere of the season. The musical features tons of Motown hits and familiar choreography as it tells the story of one the most successful groups of all time.

Meet Me in St. Louis: August 6-13

“I’m not supposed to have a favorite show, but this year this is my favorite show,” laughed Coleman as Meet Me in St. Louis was announced for the 108th season. Audiences who have seen the show before can look forward to some new elements, including an updated script and a Rodgers and Hammerstein song originally written for Oklahoma!, filmed for and cut from Meet Me in St. Louis, and now restored for the production.

Something Rotten!: August 17-23

The second Muny premiere of the season is Something Rotten!, which Isaacson describes as “two hours of us making fun of ourselves.” The Broadway hit fictionalizes the invention of the musical as the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, attempt to outdo the bard himself, William Shakespeare.

Season tickets can be purchased online beginning at 5 p.m. on December 1, with tickets available at the box office and via phone beginning December 2. Single-performance tickets for the 2026 shows will be available May 18.
