Touring to support their just-released album Space Between, Sammy Hagar & The Circle played Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on Sunday night to a crowd that got the party started early, with many tailgaters, donned in red, on the parking lot of the venue for the second evening in a row. From the excitement in the crowd, you wouldn’t know the concert had been postponed after the threat of severe weather canceled his Saturday-night appearance not long before the concert was set to start. With the crowd drifting in, Vince Neil, who’s experiencing a bit of a resurgence with the recent Netflix The Dirt biopic, opened the night with a short but powerful eight-song set that included Mötley Crüe hits “Dr. Feelgood,” “Home Sweet Home,” and “Girls Girls Girls.”

As soon as Sammy Hagar & The Circle (the supergroup features Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham, and guitarist Vic Johnson) took the stage, the fans were on their feet, pumped for a night spanning four decades of hits, from Hagar to Van Halen to Led Zeppelin.
The Red Rocker and crew started the night off high energy and all smiles with “Trust Fund Baby” from Space Between and smoothly transitioned to “There’s Only One Way to Rock,” “Three Lock Box,” Van Halen’s “Poundcake,” and “I Can’t Drive 55.” From there, the band delighted fans with covers of Montrose’s “Rock Candy” and Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” as well as a dozen other songs old and new.
