Country music fans are some of music's most passionate. And for the organizers of the upcoming Country Fair musical festival, produced by Mammoth Live with the City of Chesterfield, it’s this passion they look to cater to as thousands prepare to descend on the Chesterfield area this spring.
“We're very excited about what this event is going to offer the community and the region,” says Jason Baucom, Superintendent of Arts & Entertainment for Chesterfield Amphitheater. “There are so many great offerings in the summer and fall, so we just wanted to make sure we were also offering something great in the late springtime of the year.”
The inaugural event is scheduled to take place Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21 at The Fairgrounds at Chesterfield Amphitheater. Baucom says he has already heard from many passionate fans eager to make it a weekend at the music festival, which is set to feature headliners such as Grammy-nominee Chris Young, hitmaker Jon Pardi, and country music viral sensation Zach Bryan.
“We draw from the whole tri-state region, so we know that many of these fans are coming from as far as three hours away to see their favorite artists,” Baucom says. “What’s cool is that on the same night Bryan, for example, plays here, he will also be dropping his new album. So yes, there will be much excitement, that’s for sure.”
Making the weekend of music and activities even more enticing is the ticket price. Single-day tickets start at $20, and $50 will get visitors a three-day general admission pass. (For those inclined, preferred and VIP packages are also available.) Children 12 and under can attend for free.
“Prices like this are really unheard of,” says Baucom. “And there's something for everybody. Great food and great rides and great music.”
As with any festival, food will also be an important component of the jam-packed weekend, highlighting a wide range of culinary delights from regional favorites such as Sugarfire Smokehouse, Hi-Pointe Drive-In, and Cajun Seduction.
“We have every intention of this being an annual event,” stresses Baucom. “We're already talking to artists for next year. This thing is only going to grow. And quite honestly, we could all use a celebration, right?”
