The city of Chesterfield will soon welcome more than 25,000 country music fans into town, along with a slew of country’s biggest stars. One of those superstars happens to be Grammy-nominee Chris Young.
And yes, he’s bringing his dog.

“If I could, I would turn him loose at the fairgrounds,” laughs Young, referring to his 4-year-old German Shepard, Porter. “He would just say hello to everyone, I assure you.”
Of course, after a few years of canceled tour dates due to the pandemic, it is Young who is anxious to say hello to everyone, but especially his fans in St. Louis, who have supported him since he first broke onto the country music scene back in 2006.
“I’ve never taken my job for granted, but the pandemic really made me look at it in a whole new way,” explains Young, who is best known for number one hits such as “Losin’ Sleep,” “I’m Comin’ Over,” and his duet with Kane Brown on the chart-topping “Famous Friends.” “Now, being able to get back out on the road with my band and enjoy everything with a crowd is amazing.”
Produced by Mammoth Live with the City of Chesterfield, the upcoming Country Fair music festival will also feature the talents of headliners such as Jon Pardi and country music viral sensation Zach Bryan. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21 at The Fairgrounds at Chesterfield Amphitheater.
Adding to the fun of the already packed weekend will be a wide array of culinary favorites from across the region, including Sugarfire Smokehouse, Hi-Pointe Drive-In, and Cajun Seduction.
And don’t be surprised if you see Young out there grabbing a bite before his set.
“We’ve snuck out before…I’m not going to lie and say we haven’t,” laughs the proud member of the Grand Ole Opry, who says he is now working on material for his next project. “Sometimes it’s fun to just walk through a crowd. Being able to go out there and see what people are doing before the show is kind of fun.”
