December blessed me with an impromptu trip to Boston. And like any beauty-lover, I couldn’t help but notice some of the latest hair trends taking over Beantown. My favorite trend? The ballerina bun. So sleek, sexy and sophisticated, it seemed as if everywhere I looked I saw another circle of beautifully knotted hair. Once back in the Lou, I researched this classic hairstyle and much to my surprise, it’s much easier to do than it may look.
Wet your hair, comb it out, and then place your hair in a ponytail (for the sake of the trend, the higher the better). Twist your combed-through ponytail as tight as you can and tuck the ends underneath your hair tie. Once you have secured your bun, add some hair spray to keep it in place. You can also use bobby pins for extra security. And if you don’t want a look quite as meticulous as a “real” ballerina bun, feel free to keep the combing to a minimum. It’s as simple as that.
