Fashion Lab kicked off 2012 with an intimate event at Michael Drummond's loft in downtown's fashion district. Drummond, a Project Runway alumni, previewed his latest collection exclusively for Fashion Lab and Craft Alliance members and special guests to see. Slinky fabrics, sexy silhouettes, and edgy infinity scarves caught the eyes of quite a few fashionistas.
The night was kicked off with a comical reading of What She's Wearing Now by Mary Ann de Grandpre. Boo McLoughlin, Executive Director of Craft Alliance, Susan Sherman, founding member of Fashion Lab, and Saskya Byron, Development & Communications Director of Craft Alliance, previewed the events to come in 2012. Designers, artists, and members of the fashion community attended the kick off event, sipping wine and champagne and nibbling on tasty hors d'oeuvres throughout the night. Some of those in attendance were the hosts and honorary chairs of Craft Alliance's ARTrageous Bauble Ball, Cathy Barancik and Steve Novik, as well as Diane Zebell, David Charak, Pat Whitaker, Carrie Polk, Ann Pokoski, Sohalia Danesh, designers Anjali Kamra, Courtney Henson, Laura Kathleen Planck, Melissa Rae Brown, and Suzanne Scott Lay, Design Bazaar 3.13 host Nicole DiMartini, Candace and Tim Flynn, Debra Bass of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Jeigh Singleton, Ashley Carlisle, Ellen Soule, and Ameer Harper, to name a few. Fashion Lab and Craft Alliance, in partnership with St. Louis Magazine, is hosting Valerie Steele, Director and Chief Curator of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, at the ARTrageous Baubles Ball on April 13th along with a luncheon and lecture the following day with Valerie. Stay tuned for more details.
