2026 QUESTIONNAIRE
PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS & OPPORTUNITIES
What has been your/your company’s most significant success over the past 12 months? Winchester’s focus is on continued growth. Our most recent successes in this area are the acquisitions of White Flyer Clay Targets and the manufacturing assets of Ammo Inc. In early 2025, we broke ground on the manufacturing facility for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapon ammunition at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri, which we operate. These achievements highlight our growth and expanding footprint in both the commercial and defense sectors.
What has you most excited about the future of your company or industry? I’m excited about the rapid growth of the recreational shooting sports industry. Participation is rising, especially among young people, making it one of the fastest – growing youth sports in the country. This surge in interest reflects a broader appreciation for the values of discipline, camaraderie, and tradition. Alongside commercial growth, our expanding role in the defense sector presents tremendous opportunities. From innovative product development to supporting our nation’s military readiness, we’re poised to make impactful contributions on multiple fronts.
If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why? We work hard as a company and as an industry to improve education and understanding. There is so much to celebrate in recreational shooting sports. By educating others about the vital role our industry plays in building strong communities and promoting positive values, we can help shape public perception for the better. Through participation in safe, responsible shooting sports, we nurture community bonds and foster a shared sense of respect and tradition.
What’s the toughest business challenge you’ve had to overcome? The toughest business challenge I’ve faced during my tenure was navigating the COVID era. Supporting employees through uncertainty, maintaining supply chain readiness, and adapting to constant disruptions require resilience and flexibility. Even now, the hangover effect of the pandemic continues to impact our industry and others worldwide.
What advice would you give to the next generation of St. Louis entrepreneurs or leaders? Do not narrowly define your job. To learn and grow, you must reach beyond your core responsibilities. You’ll be amazed by what you’ll do next.
MENTORS & PEERS
What is a key strength of the St. Louis metro area business environment? One of the key strengths of the St. Louis business environment is its proximity to outstanding educational institutions and a talented workforce. Our decision to move Winchester’s world headquarters to Clayton was driven by the region’s great universities and robust pool of employees, which together create a dynamic foundation for innovation and growth.
Who in your company (or industry) deserves more recognition for their impact? The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) plays a vital but often overlooked role in promoting safe and responsible firearm use. NSSF’s Real Solutions for Safer Communities includes all their safety initiatives like Don’t Lie for the Other Guy, Gun Owners Care, and Project ChildSafe, which has distributed over 41 million free firearm locks in partnership with law enforcement agencies nationwide. Their ongoing education and advocacy set industry standards and support law enforcement, yet these efforts seldom receive the recognition they deserve for keeping communities safe.
What’s a local organization, nonprofit, or initiative that more people should know about—and why? Folds of Honor is an outstanding nonprofit that deserves much wider recognition in our community. This organization provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled in the line of duty. By empowering these families with the opportunity to pursue their academic dreams, Folds of Honor not only honors their sacrifice but also actively invests in a brighter future. Their work is significant and transformative, bridging the gap between grief and hope. Supporting Folds of Honor means joining a mission that uplifts those who bear the greatest burdens for our safety and freedom. I encourage everyone to learn more about Folds of Honor, get involved, and help expand its positive impact throughout our region and beyond.
