When St. Louis native and business owner Jason Cutter embarked on his real estate journey, he had a vision for transforming properties into something special. It wasn’t until he connected with Sarah Bernard and her real estate team, however, that his dreams truly took flight.

Not only did Bernard help Cutter find the perfect home that his family still lives in today, but she also helped Cutter navigate a number of tricky transactions.

After the home they were living in burned in a house fire, the Cutters went back to another real estate agent they’d previously worked with to try to find a new home. “It did not go well, so we ended the relationship—we then called Sarah because we were out of a house, and we felt the other real estate company was trying to work both sides, as they were representing both us and the seller,” Cutter says. “All of a sudden, they wouldn’t negotiate on the price, the closing date was four months out, nothing aligned. So we called Sarah. She had heard that our house had burnt to the ground and we asked if there was anything she could do to help us. We candidly told her what happened and that we tried to work with this other real estate agent, and, of course, her first question was ‘How can I help?’”

Cutter explained to Bernard what the family was looking for, and Bernard immediately had a property for them in mind. “She had a property that was listed last year, and it was no longer listed, but the owner was still interested in selling,” Cutter says. “Sarah made the call, and we bought that property. When we were at our lowest, Sarah stepped in and found us a home. Her proactive approach and unwavering dedication saved the day.”

Bernard’s impact didn’t end there, though. She has mentored Cutter and his family through the rental process, laying the foundation for his growing rental business.

“I think people undervalue how important a real estate agent is—I think they’re possibly one of the most underrated people to have in your corner as far as the assets in your life,” Cutter says. “They’re not only handling one of your biggest assets, but they’re also handling where your family resides, and I think you have to put a lot of weight in that. You have to trust that person, because it’s one of your biggest buying decisions.”

Glenn Jamboretz also got connected with Bernard through a family friend when he was looking to downsize his home. 

“I had talked to about three or four realtors with expertise in the area. It became about who had the best ability and who I trusted the most, and it really became very clear,” Jamboretz says. “Sarah and her team explained what was going on—they were always in touch and sharing leads of what’s coming on the market. Nobody else was doing that.”

After taking time to thoroughly understand Jamboretz’s needs and wants, they were able to find him the perfect place in Chesterfield. “Sarah’s entire team really has a great system of redundancy. Coming from a business background, I know that’s critical, so you don’t lose communication with your clients,” he says. “If someone was out of town, I could call, and anyone there would be able to help me. Her entire team was very knowledgeable and somehow seemed to know every little detail, so it was a very simple process for me.”
