Brewery Lights marks 40 years of holiday magic at Anheuser-Busch

Anheuser-Busch celebrates four decades of lights, Clydesdales, a new hidden speakeasy, and holiday cheer during St. Louis’ most iconic winter tradition.

For 40 years, Brewery Lights at the Anheuser-Busch St. Louis brewery has been a valuable part of the city’s holiday season. It’s a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit of Budweiser.

This year, the beloved event returns for its 40th anniversary with more lights, more cheer, and an exciting lineup of new experiences designed to make the season special.

Since its debut, Brewery Lights has transformed the historic Anheuser-Busch brewery into a winter wonderland, welcoming generations of St. Louisans to stroll beneath millions of twinkling lights, enjoy treats, and get up close with the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. What began as a local favorite has become a can’t-miss holiday destination.

“Anheuser-Busch is honored to be a part of our hometown’s beloved holiday traditions and to once again kick off the season with the opening of our 40th annual Brewery Lights,” says Colleen Lucas, Vice President of Community Impact at Anheuser-Busch. “Filled with new attractions and familiar favorites for the whole family, we’re excited to bring our St. Louis community together for moments that matter, because that’s who we are.”

A Hidden Speakeasy Experience

Among this year’s biggest additions is the all-new Brewery Lights Speakeasy, The Bevo Fox Den, an experience for ages 21 and up that combines history, mystery, and modern-day fun.

Hidden within the brewery’s Bevo building, a space not open to the public for more than 40 years, the speakeasy invites guests into an exclusive Prohibition-era hideaway complete with garnished Cutwater cocktails, ambiance,  live jazz, and VIP perks such as private restrooms and event access.

“We are always looking to elevate the guest experience at Brewery Lights, and this year will be something special,” says Lucas. “The Bevo Fox Den is an area of the brewery that very few guests have ever seen, and we’re sending it back in time to the Prohibition era for the holiday season. You’ll want to book reservations early, as this experience will likely sell out.”

Holiday Traditions Meet New Experiences

This year’s Brewery Lights event will feature expanded light displays and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages. Guests can walk through an expanded illuminated tunnel, see updated choreographed light trees, and view two 19-foot Clydesdale sculptures at the entrance. Fire pits offer spots to enjoy seasonal drinks, while a selection of food trucks serve local favorites.

Some returning favorites include the VIP Fire Pit Fun Packages, which feature a private fire pit for up to a dozen guests, a heated hospitality tent, Anheuser-Busch products, s’mores kits, live music, and Brewery Lights souvenirs, perfect for those seeking a quieter, family-friendly experience.

Guests can also explore a holiday brewery tour inside the Brewhouse and the Old Lyon Schoolhouse Museum, home to hundreds of never-before-seen artifacts from the Anheuser-Busch archives. The museum offers a self-guided experience that doubles as a great place to warm up while learning more about the brewery’s rich history. Guided tours are also available for visitors interested in seeing the brewing process up close, including the mash tanks and brew kettles.

Before heading home, be sure to stop by the Brewery Gift Shop to pick up the perfect present for the beer lover in your life.

The Tradition Lives On

For many guests, the highlight of Brewery Lights is seeing the Budweiser Clydesdales, icons of the brand and symbols of holiday nostalgia. Families can visit the Clydesdales in their stables, capture photos, and watch them lead the 7:30 p.m. nightly parade, with a 27-piece marching band, trolleys, and vintage trucks.

“There’s nothing like hearing the Clydesdales’ hooves before you see them,” says Scott Smith, Director of Brewery Experiences. “It’s one of those moments that just never gets old.”
