A Music Celebration of a Lifetime with Chuck Berry and Marquise Knox

Last night, St. Louis Magazine held our 100 Greatest Musicians in St. Louis Launch Party at the Blueberry Hill Duck Room, presented by Draftmark Tap System. It was truly a music celebration of the century! The party was a celebration of the April issue of St. Louis Magazine, which featured the 100 greatest musicians in St. Louis’ history with music legends such as the great Chuck Berry, Ike and Tina Turner, and Miles Davis, as well as genre-spanning talents like Nelly, Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, and The Urge; the issue, and the launch party, were a tribute to the many talented musicians that have and will influence our great city with their sweet sounds.

Party guests sampled the Draftmark Tap System, which provides fresh, draught beer in your home, while savoring tasty appetizers as they tapped their toes to the soulful sound of Marquise Knox, a 21-year-old blues prodigy (who did spend a little time growing up in Mississippi, although we’ll definitely claim him as one of our own, since he was born here and moved back after a few years). We don’t hold this against him, though, as all his life experiences made him what he is today—a truly phenomenal blues musician with three albums under his belt at the age of 21.

While the Draftmark was flowing, spirits were high, hair was let down, and heads were bobbing to the music, Joe Edwards, owner of Blueberry Hill, came onstage to make a very special announcement to the audience: he informed party guests that St. Louis’ very own rock & roll legend Chuck Berry was in the building and would make a very special appearance at the event. The excitement was palpable as this came as a surprise to unsuspecting party guests. The delightful legend and music icon came onstage and just talked to the audience like they were all old friends; he seemed in great spirits as he told jokes and conversed with Joe. He then came down from the stage and was swarmed by eager fans as he signed copies of the April issue and sat for photos. It was such a fun way to end a fabulous evening for some very lucky party attendees.

As the very eventful evening at the Duck Room began to wind down, one lucky party guest won a Draftmark Tap System to enjoy fresh beer in the comfort of their own home. Joe Edwards was presented with a large, foam poster of the cover of the April issue of St. Louis Magazine. Be sure to frequent Blueberry Hill to see the cool cover located among the plethora of museum-worthy memorabilia found at Blueberry Hill.
