1. MLS STADIUM
After much anticipation, MLS4TheLou, St. Louis’ Major League Soccer ownership group, announced the future STL soccer team’s name: St. Louis CITY SC, The City for short. The team’s colors will be pink-red, blue, and gold, and the crest bears five lines representing the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, as well as the Gateway Arch. The stadium, designed by HOK and Snow Kreilich Architects, is expected to be game-ready by 2023.
The future home of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is under construction in near North St. Louis. Construction is slated for completion by 2023, with IT installation the following year and a move-in date in 2025. The $1.7 billion project is aimed at creating a new facility for the current Geospatial-Intelligence staff, who now work out of an office in Soulard. When complete, the NGA campus will cover 97 acres and include an office building, two parking garages, a visitor center, and a delivery inspection facility.

The Brickline Greenway will traverse up to 20 miles of trails and green space across St. Louis City. It will connect Fairground Park in the north to Tower Grove Park in the south and Forest Park in the west to the Gateway Arch National Park in the east, as well as many destinations in between. Three segments of pathways are currently in the early stages of planning and design. This process works with neighbors and partners to determine how the greenway could connect and celebrate the stories of those places, be a catalyst for jobs and equitable economic growth opportunities, enhance the environment, and improve quality of life.

4. AC NEXT GEN
Ambitious plans are underway to expand America’s Center, St. Louis’ downtown convention center. Slated for completion in 2023, the expansion will extend the west side of the complex and add a 65,000-square-foot ballroom, an improved exhibit hall, and more.

5. CITY FOUNDRY
Inspired by such concepts as Krog Street Market in Atlanta, the Lawrence Group’s Steve Smith is transforming the former Century Electric site in Midtown into a $220 million project entertainment destination, replete with a food hall, beer garden, Fresh Thyme grocery store, and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Office tenants could begin moving in last August, and the food hall is set to open in the first half of 2021, with retail spots following.

Phase two of the development of Ballpark Village will see a full build-out of Clark Street, including a Live! by Loews hotel, a high-rise luxury residential tower—named One Cardinal Way—a Class-A (aka high quality) office building, and retail and entertainment space. Both the Loews hotel and One Cardinal Way are open: Loews opened in February, One Cardinal Way in August. The $260 million project is expected to create more than 1,000 new jobs when completed.
Situated in the footprint of the former Chrysler plant in Fenton, the nearly 300-acre park will one day house everything from industrial space to hotels. The industrial space, developed by US Capital Development, is supposed to be finished in late 2021; retail and commercial space is expected to be complete in early 2022.
9. RIVERPOINTE
Designed for the land between historic Main Street and the Family Arena in St. Charles, Riverpointe is an ambitious mixed-use development that includes entertainment venues, room for new businesses, and office and residential space. The development will complement the city’s plan for a 5.5-mile riverwalk stretching from New Town to Riverpointe and beyond.
