Change is afoot at Taubman Prestige Outlets in Chesterfield.
It was reported this week that Taubman Centers Inc. plans to sell the shopping center to The Staenberg Group, led by real estate developer Michael Staenberg. A deal is expected to close soon. Tim Lowe, The Staenberg Group’s vice president of leasing and development, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the group will “rebrand” the outlets.

Part of that rebrand will complement the forthcoming Topgolf, adjacent to the shopping center. Expected to open by the end of the year, it will be Missouri’s first location for the sports-entertainment complex chain.
“There has been amazing growth throughout the Chesterfield Valley in the last few years,” Topgolf chief development officer Chris Callaway said in a release. “The greater St. Louis area has proven to be a great place to live and work, paving the way for us to provide its residents with a new and exciting entertainment experience.”
Lowe also told the Post that the group plans to incorporate “entertainment-type tenants that can tie in with Topgolf,” as well as a food hall. He adds that work on the rebranding could begin next summer.
“TSG approached us with a compelling vision for the asset, and given the company’s excellent reputation and deep industry experience, we believe they will reposition the center well for the local customer,” Taubman spokeswoman Maria Mainville told the Post.
It could mark the next West County acquisition from The Staenberg Group, who earlier this week announced that it had purchased the Sears department store attached to the Chesterfield Mall and could redevelop the rest of the shopping center.
Taubman Prestige Outlets opened in 2013. Around the same time, a second shopping center, St. Louis Premium Outlets, debuted just a few miles to the west.
