St. Louis CITY SC to host playoff launch party on Sunday

The family-friendly event at Lou Fusz Plaza will feature appearances from players and staff, as well as live entertainment, activities, food and drinks, and more.

St. Louis CITY SC’s season-long celebration feels like it’s only getting started.

Ahead of the club’s postseason debut, CITY will host a family-friendly playoff launch party on Sunday afternoon. The event, which will be held at CITYPARK’s Lou Fusz Plaza from 1–3 p.m., will serve as a salute to the team after it clinched the No. 1 seed in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. CEO Carolyn Kindle, sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel, head coach Bradley Carnell, and players from the team will be on hand to deliver remarks and mingle with fans.

“Our inaugural season has been nothing short of incredible, and as we shift our focus to the postseason, we are calling everyone in the St. Louis region to join us on October 22 to celebrate our team and start painting the city red as we kick off our quest for the MLS Cup,” Kindle said in a statement.

No official announcement has been made about the date and time of CITY’s opening-round playoff match. Tickets for that game, which will take place sometime between October 29–November 1, sold out quickly last week. As of Wednesday, tickets on the resale market start at $215.

For those without playoff tickets, there will be a free watch party at Lou Fusz Plaza for at least the first match of the tournament. After the regular CITY Block Party on the night of the playoff match, fans are invited to stay on the plaza to catch the game on a big screen. Tickets will not be required, and the event is pet-friendly.

There will also be a CITY Block Party this weekend for the club’s regular season finale. It will kick off on Friday with a concert by pop singer Ava Max, along with openers The Scarlet Opera and DJ Stazi. Free general admission tickets for Friday’s concert can be reserved through SeatGeek. The Block Party will continue on Saturday at 4 p.m. with a free pre-game concert by local band Hazmat and a skateboarding demonstration hosted by Sk8 Liborius.

Saturday’s match against the Seattle Sounders kicks off at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through SeatGeek, and start as low as $70.

CITY and SoccerBible collaborate on commemorative book

A new commemorative publication will chronicle memorable moments from St. Louis CITY SC’s first season in Major League Soccer.

Through a partnership with SoccerBible, CITY is releasing the 303-page book Inaugural, which features more than 200 photos and takes readers on a journey that illustrates the club’s journey on and off the field in 2023.

“With Inaugural, we want people across the globe to take notice of St. Louis and its resurgence by offering a fresh perspective on the pride of our city and its love of The Beautiful Game,” chief brand architect Lee Broughton said in a statement. “With our club making MLS history, breaking records both on and off the pitch and solidifying our spot in the 2023 playoffs, Inaugural is a love letter to St. Louis and our fans, and an incredible way to remember our historic first season.”

The book will be available in limited quantities beginning Saturday at CITY Pavilion (2118 Market), as well as through CITY’s website and app.
