Rachelle L’Ecuyer named first executive director of the Delmar Loop

Joe Edwards announced today that Maplewood’s former community development director will take the helm next week.

The Delmar Loop is already a hot spot, but its reputation as a dining and shopping mecca is about to get a boost.

In a news release, Loop chairman and “Duke of Delmar” Joe Edwards announced that Rachelle L’Ecuyer will serve as the first-ever executive director of the Delmar Loop beginning next Monday, August 13. “We unanimously chose Rachelle, who has a great track record for community building and economic development,” he said, “and we are looking toward a bright future.”

L’Ecuyer previously served for 13 years as community development director in Maplewood, which has seen a dramatic revitalization over the past decade and a half.

She will now be tasked with continuing to elevate the Loop’s profile as a dining and entertainment corridor at a time when development continues to boom east of Skinker. (Already, the Delmar Loop has been named one of “10 Great Streets” by the American Planning Association and among Cushman & Wakefield’s “Top 15 Cool Streets.”)
