Former Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill has a new gig

McCaskill made her debut as an analyst for NBC/MSNBC on Tuesday.

Two months after losing the senate race to then–Attorney General Josh Hawley, former Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill announced what’s next. McCaskill made an appearance Tuesday morning on Morning Joe, an MSNBC political analysis show hosted by husband-and-wife team Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, plus Willie Geist, where Brzezinski announced the former senator had joined NBC and MSNBC as an analyst.

“I have come to the other side,” McCaskill said on the show. “I’ve always said in my offices, we can be smart and have a great work ethic and do good work, but if we have fun, we’ll do great work.” McCaskill will be helping the network cover President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on January 29.

“Mika and I are excited to have Claire as part of the Morning Joe team,” Scarborough said. “The senator not only provides critical insights into what ails Washington, but also can help us figure out how to make our government work again. Most importantly, our friend provides critical insights into the state of affairs for the Cardinals and Chiefs!”

Earlier, McCaskill tweeted a picture of her walking into the NBC offices at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

McCaskill made headlines earlier this month when she called newly elected New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “a bright shiny new object” in an interview with CNN. Ocasio-Cortez shot back that “McCaskill promised she’d ‘100% back Trump up’ on his anti-immigrant rhetoric & lost. In MO, almost all progressive ballot issues won.”
