In his first post-governorship gig, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will join Clayton law firm Dowd Bennett, as first reported by the St. Louis Business Journal.
The Business Journal reports that Nixon intends to start at the firm in late January and work on internal and corporate investigations, litigation, and regulatory matters.
"We are delighted to have Governor Nixon join the firm and are looking forward to practicing law with him," law firm co-founder Ed Dowd said in a statement.
"I represent 6.2 million people now, and it will be a pleasure to narrow the number but keep up the intensity," Nixon told Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Nixon, who will leave the governor's office January 9, received his law degree from the University of Missouri–Columbia. He was elected as Missouri's attorney general in 1992 and served four consecutive terms. Before that, Nixon practiced as an attorney in Jefferson County.
